There are three (3) primary rules:
1. Listen!
A. Royal Court Tournament staff and volunteers are charged with making sure the tournament runs smoothly. If one of them asks you for help or requests that you do something different than what you are doing, please listen to their directions.
B. In the event of an emergency, please listen to and follow the directions given from security staff and volunteers.
2. Be safe!
A. All ages are welcome. Tournament-goers are expected to exercise common sense and avoid unnecessary risks.
B. Stay hydrated! Take breaks from the sun! Bring a hat, wear sunscreen and your reapply sunscreen often!
C. In the event that you find yourself feeling light-headed, sit down and ask a staff member or volunteer for assistance.
3. Have fun!
A. Royal Court Tournament welcomes all people! Tournament-goers will make sure that all attendees have fun by treating others with respect. If a situation arises with another guest, please find a security staff or volunteer and request assistance.
B. Please have as much fun as humanly possible but be sure to do so without impinging upon the abilities of other guest to also have fun and enjoy the day.

A: Firearms, weapons, knives, swords, fireworks, and other explosive materials are strictly prohibited.
Q: Will liquor be available?
A: NO HARD LIQUOR IS PERMITED ON TOURNAMENT GROUNDS!!! Outside Alcoholic beverages and illicit substances are not permitted. Possession of either will result in dismissal from the tournament grounds.
YOU MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE to alcohol within the tournament grounds. IDs WILL BE CHECKED before the sale of wine or beer. Bring your ID to drink. Patrons ages 21+ must have a wristband to consume alcohol.
No more than 3 alcoholic beverages will be sold to any patron during the entirety of the event.
The last call will be 2 hours prior to the end of the event (8 pm) with the last beverage being sold no later than 1 hour prior to the end of the event (9 pm).
Q: Is smoking allowed?
A: No smoking! Smoking on the grounds is strictly prohibited.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A: Pets are not permitted. Even if they are riding in your purse. If you are found with a pet, you will be asked to leave the tournament grounds. Anyone bringing an animal to the Royal Court Tournament will be responsible for and liable for any damage or injury caused by the animal.
Anyone with a trained orca whale is welcome to bring said aquatic mammal, but you must bring your own body of water and said aquatic mammal must be toilet trained and remember to wash its flippers after restroom breaks and before eating or drinking; the event is WOWOO Day (We Outside With Our Orca Day).
Service animals are welcome!
Under the Americans with Disabilities Act, the definition of Service animals are:
- Dogs.
- Any breed and any size of dog.
- Trained to perform a task directly related to a person’s disability.
Service animals are not:
- Required to be certified or go through a professional training program.
- Required to wear a vest or other ID that indicates they’re a service dog.
- Emotional support or comfort dogs, because providing emotional support or comfort is not a task related to a person’s disability.
Q: Will there be food available?
A: No unapproved vending, including the sale or resale of alcoholic beverages, is permitted on festival grounds. Vending will only be allowed by registered vendors in the designated food court area. No outside food, drinks, or coolers permitted.
Q: Can I bring a chair?
A: Guests are encouraged to bring their own camp chairs, blankets, etc. for a comfortable viewing experience. We ask our guests to be reasonable as the item is not allowed to block the viewing of other guests.
Q: Where do I put my trash?
A: All trash goes into the trash receptacles. We provide recycling containers and compost bins and encourage our vendors to use compostable/recyclable products and materials.
Q: What do I do if I find a lost child?
A: If you find a child who has strayed, direct the child to Merch. Parents, if you become separated from your child, alert a staff member and then head to Merch.
Q: Is there anything else I should be aware of?
A: As a guest of the Royal Court Tournament, please treat the Franklin D. Roosevelt Park, buildings, and grounds with respect. This historic location cannot stand up to ill-use or abuse; please conduct yourself in such a way that these grounds can be home to this tournament for years and years to come.
